Gluten free Modak
Modak is an Indian sweet dish popular in many Indian states.According to Hindu mythology ,it is considered one of the favourite dishes of lord Ganasha.
In some parts of India it also called Sondesh Modak.
Fact : Do you all know Why is Ganesh served 21 Modaks? It is believed that when Lord Shiva burped 21 times and Goddess Parvati got to know that it's Modak that satiated both of them, that's when she expressed a wish that devotees of Ganpati will always offer 21 Modaks to him.
Modak can be shaped in many ways.You can make them with the fluted petal shape or even in the shape of half-moon similar to karanji or gujja.
Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival when we mostly make Modak.Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated annually to mark the birth of Lord Ganesha ,the God of new beginnings and fresh start.The festival falls in the month of Bhadra ,According to the Hindu calendar and in August/September according to the Gregorian
calendar
You can begin the rituals by getting a clay idol of Ganshji ,to worship in the morning and the ecvening .The idol is then worshiped by offering them durva and flowers and Modak.
Ingredients
1/4 cup milk1 cup milk powder1/4 cup ghee1/2 cup sugar powder2 tsp cardamom powder
Optional 2-3 saffron strips in 2 tsp milk4-5 pista ,cashew ,almonds2-3 tsp Gulkand1/2 tsp Coco powder mix with 1 tsp milk
Process
- Take a pan and add 1/4 cup milk.add 1 cup of milk powder to it.
- Mix it well so there should not be any lumps.
- now add 1/4 cup ghee to it and mix.
- Add 1/2 cup sugar powder to it and mix well.
- Now put pan on gas and continuously stir it
- Mix it on slow to medium gas.
- When batter gets thick like you can touch it and it doesn't stick to your hand.switch of the flame
- Let it cool for some times
- Now make four equal parts of it.
1.Simple Modak- Add cardamom powder it.and take a Modak making mould
- put that mixture into that mould and make pattle shape modaks
- you can buy modak mould from any online store.
- or you can make with your hands also.just take some mixture and make it pattle shape as shown in picture
2.Kesar Modak- Take other part of mixture and add safforon mixture with milk to it
- now mix properly and make modaks from mould or with hands
3.Gulkand Modak - Take other part of mixture and add gulkand mixture to it
- now mix properly and make modaks from mould or with hands
4.Coco Modak - Take remaining part of mixture and add Coco mixture with milk to it
- now mix properly and make modaks from mould or with hands
